Choosing the Right
Institution
We are often asked by
international students and their parents, "Which is the best university in
Australia for ...?". There are many opinions - often conflicting - as to
which university is the leading one in any particular area, it is really not so
simple. If you want we can refer you to some of these ratings of universities.
However, we say, the best university, or school or college, is the one that
suits you best.
When you are trying to
decide where to study, our counselors will urge you to consider a number of
factors, which through our long experience in counseling and placing
international students we have found are critical in determining a student's
success. We will guide you through this process. You should consider:
- Your academic
background
- Your age
- Your English language
proficiency
- Where you have
friends or relatives in Australia
- Where the program you
want to enter is offered
- Where you can
actually gain entry with your background
- Where they have
places available in what you want to study
- Where the course
structure and outline best suit your interests and way of learning
- What tuition fees you
are willing to pay (Generally very high status institutions charge higher
fees.)
- Availability of the
type of accommodation you are seeking
- If you prefer busy
city lifestyle, or a quieter regional lifestyle
- What type of climate
you prefer to live in
- Access to a suitable
place of wordship
- Your purpose for
studying in Australia
- Many other factors...
