The Application Process

If you want to come to Australia to study, your IAE Study in Australia counselor can assist you through each step of the process.

Depending on your individual circumstances, your IAE Study in Australia counselor will advise you on the precise process for your application.

The following is the usual procedure for students from Assessment Level 3 or 4 countries, applying from outside Australia to study in formal courses of over 3 months. The process for Assessment levels 1 & 2 is more simple. Our counselors will advise you.

1. Have a look at http://www.immi.gov.au/students/students/chooser/index.htm to check whether you appear to meet the criteria for entry to Australia on a Student Visa. If you don't, or need assistance, our counselors can advise you on what you need to do before you are ready to apply. If you do appear to meet the criteria, then…

2. Complete our Counseling Card and send it to us together with the required documentation.

3. You choose an institution - with guidance from your IAE Study in Australia counselor. We will send you information on what you appear qualified to enter and recommend a number of study pathways/courses. If you have any questions, ask your IAE Study in Australia counselor to give you more information or explain.

4. Complete the application form and send certified copies of relevant documents to your IAE Study in Australia counselor.

5. Our counselor will ensure that the application is in order, meets the entry criteria for the desired course, and forward it to the institution with a covering letter explaining your situation. He/She will follow-up until an Offer of Place is received and forward it to you.

6. Assessment Level 3 & 4 applicants will need the Offer of Place to apply for a Pre-Visa Assessment (PVA), the first stage in the application process for a Student Visa. We can assist you through the visa application process. If you are under 18 years of age, you will need a Guardian in Australia, who will be responsible for you. Your IAE Study in Australia counselor can arrange this for you. A Service Fee applies.

7. The Embassy will assess your application and let you know if you appear to meet the criteria for a Student Visa.

8. Inform your IAE Study in Australia Counselor of the outcome. If positive, you can then pay the required tuition and other fees, as shown on the Offer of Place. This can be done by either sending a bank draft made out to the institution to IAE Study in Australia, or through an electronic transfer to our IAE Study in Australia account, depending on the urgency.

9. We will pay your fees and forward your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) form to you. The CoE must be sent to the Embassy, so your visa can be processed. The Department of Immigration here will also forward an electronic copy to your nearest Australian diplomatic post.

10. When your visa is granted, inform us of your arrival details and complete our Airport Reception & Accommodation Placement Form if you require these services. A Service Fee applies, and can be paid on-arrival to IAE or prior to arrival if your institution is providing these services.

If for any reason your visa is rejected, email us the rejection letter and we will advise you what to do.
